Experience the remote beauty of the Everglades and Ten Thousand Islands without having to carry all of your camping gear in your kayak.
On our Boat-Assisted Base Camp Kayak Tours, we use a powerboat to transport our guests, kayaks, camping equipment, food, water, and gear to a remote location — typically a secluded island beach — where we establish a comfortable base camp.
From base camp, we set out on daily kayak excursions to explore mangrove waterways, quiet bays, remote islands, and wildlife-rich areas that many paddlers simply don't have the time to reach on a traditional kayak camping trip. Sunrise and sunset paddles can also be an unforgettable part of the experience.
The additional carrying capacity of our transport boat allows us to provide amenities and creature comforts that would be difficult to bring along on a traditional kayak expedition. Depending on the trip, these may include:
Using the transport boat also gives us greater flexibility when selecting campsites. We can choose locations based on current and forecasted weather, wind and water conditions, campsite availability, and the interests of the group — while making an effort to avoid crowded nearby campsites.
Your safety and comfort are extremely important to us. The vastness and remoteness of the Everglades can make navigating the backcountry challenging, which is why our experienced guides carry modern safety, navigation, and communication equipment.
Our trips are equipped with GPS units, VHF marine radios, satellite tracking and communication devices, and the necessary safety equipment for traveling through the Everglades backcountry. You'll be in experienced hands while exploring some of the most remote areas of South Florida.
We completely outfit and provision your trip, including meals and drinking water.
Good, hearty meals are an important part of the Base Camp experience. Meals are freshly prepared by your guide, and during the planning and confirmation process we'll discuss your food preferences and dietary needs so that the menu can be tailored to your group.
No two Base Camp trips have to be exactly alike. Because we live and work in the area year-round, our routes and itineraries are flexible and can be adapted based on:
Your guide will discuss your expectations and interests with you before the trip so that we can create an experience best suited to your group.
